Our ju-jitsu (jiu-jitsu, jujutsu) program gets right to the point in a safe, explorative environment. Although striking is still an important part of the art, ju-jitsu relies heavily on the use of control and leverage techniques to end a threat. During their journey to black belt, students can expect to explore striking, clinches, throws/takedowns, joint locking and choking techniques. The curriculum is carefully laid out to bring students on a conceptual journey, learning basic, higher percentage skills before establishing flow using secondary and tertiary techniques and principles.
The system we teach is called Mizu-Te Combat Ju-Jitsu, an American combative ju-jitsu with a traditional and military lineage. As the name implies, the pressures of an assault situation are prioritized and students build skills that work against strikes and ballistic attacks, an aspect of the art that is quickly becoming lost in lieu of competition.
